At the start of writing this foreword to the long awaited English edit of our magazine, we have just learned about the last French stronghold Media Carpe calling it quits... Yet another of the big European names sadly down the drain, foreboding the further demise of print media, and dare we say, the written word. Who could have thought that when we came up with the idea for Monkey Climber..

Drennan Specialist Landing Nets have a hollow D section alloy frame which is both lightweight and rigid.
The alloy spreader block has a crossbar to add strength and provide a convenient handle for lifting bigger fish. Importantly, this hollow frame has been properly sealed so it does not fill with water and gain weight when immersed.
The net itself has larger mesh on the sides to reduce water resistance and improve maneuverability and finer mesh on the base to cradle the fish.
The whole net including the frame is in a muted bronze/olive colour. When submerged this looks so natural and ‘weed like’ that fish are less net shy. Some species - especially chub - will occasionally dive into the net rather than veering away.
