CTX Black Edition Carp Rods
A sharper, more contemporary CTX build designed to cover the full spectrum of modern carp fishing.
Designed to cover the full spectrum of modern carp fishing, CTX Black Edition takes the proven performance of the much-loved original CTX and brings it fully up to date with a sharper, more contemporary build. From softer, more forgiving tools for intimate waters through to rods with the power and composure for serious range work, the range is built around blanks that feel slim, quick and responsive in the hand, yet remain impressively stable when compressed hard in the cast or leaned into under pressure.
At the core is the same main carbon construction that made the previous CTX such a success. A complex multi-stage manufacturing process combines Japanese Toray 40t and 30t carbon with resin content kept below 25%, producing blanks that are crisp, light and efficient without unnecessary bulk. The material lay-up is arranged in alternating 0° and 90° layers to improve hoop strength and stability, then reinforced with the new Double X Wrap Carbon matt taping applied at opposing 30° angles.
That construction is about far more than appearance. With unwanted torsional bias reduced, the rod converts power more efficiently into controlled, repeatable casting rather than wasted movement or wobble. The result is a blank that feels fast without becoming nervous, and powerful without losing its balance. As with all Free Spirit carp rods, overfit joints are used to help maintain a smoother working curve through the sections, so the rod bends more effectively and progressively under real fishing pressure.
The Black Edition build is deliberately modern throughout. Each rod is fitted with a DPS-18 Black reel seat, black acetal collars, and SeaGuide ceramic RS lined guides that offer excellent durability with braid, fluorocarbon or monofilament.
Those ceramic liners promote smooth line flow while standing up to long-term abrasive wear, particularly where braided lines or harsh conditions are involved.
