‘Bitetimes to Lifetimes’ is Tom’s third self-published book, whose stories continue from his first and second titles: ‘Sticklebacks to Throwing Sticks’ and ‘Fine Line to Lunacy’.

Should the reader be interested in finding out more about these latest accounts, the opening chapter begins with the capture of a treasured Savay brace before leading on to fishing for the formidable stock of carp that reside in Wellington Country Park. There then follows a personal account of running several syndicate fisheries for the British Carp Angler, as well as shorter subjects including the tricky ‘days only’ angling on Dinton Pastures, the possibilities within the ‘January Window’, and the golden opportunity of visiting Redmire Pool. The largest chapter by far is the author’s thirty-year account of establishing a gravel pit fishery; this venue, unbeknown to him, was to become the best ticket he could ever own, whereas the following chapter is dedicated to the story of the opposition to the HS2 project, which was given the green light in 2020, causing utter dismay and destruction for those passionate about the landscape affected along the length of the line – the only remedy was found to be acceptance, which now becomes the ongoing tale of those historic lakes in the Colne Valley.
