The Outstanding CTX Range - Free Spirit are very proud of what they have achieved with the CTX range of carp rods covering every possibility from small water with the 2 ½'s to extreme range with the S.U. models. A complex manufacturing process integrates 40t and 30t carbons with resin content below 25%. Wrapping alternately at 90 degrees and zero degrees for added strength, then further wrapping with 3mm bi-axis carbon tape at 45 degrees produces extremely strong yet ultra-light and slim blanks.

In addition to a much improved power to weight ratio of a blank at this price, a further advantage of this multi-layer structure is the accuracy of casting as the blank is less prone to twisting. Free Spirit are known for producing distance casting rods and have proven during testing that the blank construction has produced rods with extreme casting abilities and great recovery. Cosmetically the 'X'-Tape runs the length of the blank and gives it a very attractive and distinctive 'Perdurable' finish.

This outstanding rod range is finished with Fuji DPS reel seats, stainless steel collars and 'S'-Lite guides with both 40mm and 50mm models making them perform and look fantastic for many years to come and..... they won't break the bank

CTX Carp Rods

These are great rods where longer ranges are not required, realistically you aren’t going to fish past 100yds with these two, but for a lot of people that is unwanted anyway. If you fish smaller waters and want to enjoy playing the fish then you cant beat these two models, they are more than comfortable casting a 2 1/2oz lead with a stick mix on, the 2.75lb having that little more poke to it if you need to up the lead size a bit. The 2.75lb is available in full cork or abbreviated, both models have 40mm ring sets.

Probably what you would call a general all round carp rod, equally at home fishing at 20 yds as it is 100yds, will suit most people most of the time, perfect for leads to 3/3.5 oz but will still cast a 2oz lead accurately due to the forgiving nature of the tip.

This is a fantastic rod and definitely the Jewel in the range, slim, great to look at and use and will do pretty much anything you need, it is comfortable at fishing 120-130 yds but is also perfectly ok to use at 30 yds on a smaller water. This rods cast 3.5oz comfortably or pop a 3oz lead and a stick mix on and you will hit over 100yds with ease. Since Free Spirit launched this rod we haven’t found any other make of rod under £150 that gets anywhere near the CTX 3.25lb!!

A stiffer version of the 3.5lb where maybe solid PVA bag use or those extra yards are needed, a slightly faster taper than the 3.25lb so is a little stiffer when playing fish, not a poker though.

As Free Spirit say this is a pretty pokey tool and will cast crazy distances for a rod of this price and we wont argue with that, feedback from customers has been nothing but good, a lot of people maybe want an extra set of rods for occasional big chuck work but don’t want to spend a fortune, well this certainly fits the bill, you can buy a set of three for less than the cost of one high end rod, ok you wont get the same quality but for the money you will get all the performance you need.

The “Big Chuck” in the range, the extra length means that casts of over 150yds are achievable with this rod. Obviously this is a pretty stiff rod but the extra length at 13’ means the rod feels less powerful than the 12’ version, its powerful but not an absolute poker. Its still a surprisingly slim and well balanced rod for the price. With 3 rods coming in under £450 you will not find better on the market.
