Johnson Ross Tackle first opened its doors in 1987 being run by the Johnson family, they quickly decided that they wanted to specialise in the Carp Scene, mainly down to Anthony and Matthew pursuing Carp more and more. The shop grew over the years as they built up a following and reputation for having what people really wanted in stock.

The shop went from the original building at no 3 and now encompasses no 1-9 Amwell st and is a haven for carp anglers from all over the UK and Europe. The shop is now run by Anthony, Matthew and Lewis, the youngest brother, along with the other staff that now total nearly 20, all of which are experienced anglers.

Johnson Ross Tackle has built up the enviable position of being the go to shop for Carp rods, all the major manufacturers are kept in stock but it is Free Spirit that they excel at. The shop has had a Free Spirit dealership for over a decade and have become the biggest stockist in Europe, they endeavour to keep every model of rod in stock and also try to keep many of them in different handle and ringing arrangements.

Free Spirit need little introduction as their products speak for themselves and the feedback and recommendation from users is what sells the rods. The ethos of Free Spirit was to buck the trend and design, develop and manufacture their own rods without the constraints of parent companies, shareholders or big overseas based owners telling them what they should do. Simeon the owner had a clear vision that he wanted to create the best possible products he could.

Over the years they have designed some of the most iconic and sought after rods ever made, they never rest on their laurels and are constantly developing ranges as new materials arise and as demand from anglers arises.
